This hidden laneway bar is the perfect place to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. From the moment you step through the door, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a Speak-Easy with a slightly black humour theme. With its dark heavy double doors, sunken lounge and large bar, this is the perfect place to relax with friends and enjoy a drink or two.
The bar menu is filled with classic cocktails and modern luxe creations, all of which are beautifully presented on pages adorned with muerto art. And with a gazillion whiskies to choose from, there’s something for everyone at this sophisticated yet relaxed watering hole.
Brisbane Jazz Club
The Brisbane Jazz Club is located just upstream from the Story Bridge, offering wonderful views of the city from its riverside location. A hidden gem, the club is open Thursday to Sunday nights, with a monthly brunch on the last Sunday of the month.
Lefty’s Music Hall

From the Old West Americana atmosphere to the delicious drinks and food, there’s something for everyone at Lefty’s. And of course, the live entertainment is not to be missed! So come on down to Caxton Street and raise a glass at Lefty’s Music Hall.
Cobbler
Cobbler was founded in early 2013 by people who had a strong passion for whisky. At that time, it was the first bar of its kind in Queensland that specialized in everything related to malted spirits. This included not only Scotch, Bourbon, and Japanese whisky, but also Irish, Australian, Indian, Taiwanese, and American Single Malt whisky. However, Cobbler didn’t want to stop there. They also wanted to offer a large range of spirits that could be used in creative ways to enhance the experience of each patron.
The Walrus Club
This bar is hidden away under the main regatta pub, and it’s like a trendy, warm, music-filled dungeon! The cocktails are great and there’s usually a live band playing most nights. There are lots of little nooks and crannies to explore, and the atmosphere is really fun. This is one of our favourite bars in Brisbane!
Junk Bar
If you’re looking for a place with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, this is the spot for you. The old-world ambience is fabulous, and the staff are attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home.
We loved every bit of our experience here – it’s definitely a very different place, and I felt relaxed and welcome from beginning to end.
The Bearded Lady
The Bearded Lady prides itself on being a small, intimate bar and live music venue where you can feel safe and part of the family.
They’re open 5 days a week and offer a variety of live music, food, drink, and weird and wonderful events for creatives of all mediums to enjoy. So come on in and find out for yourself what makes them so special.
Viscosity
If you’re looking for an amazing and unique dining experience, then you need to try Viscosity! All the stunning photos and videos you see online do the place justice – it really is as inviting and beautiful as it looks in the pictures.
Viscosity celebrates all the senses – sight, smell, taste and texture. Each drink is its own little adventure, and we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Keep in mind that Viscosity is a pretty small venue, so it’s not really the place to go if you’re looking to party all night with a group of friends. But if you’re looking for something fun and different, then definitely add Viscosity to your list of places to visit!
Prohibition Nightclub
Looking for a fun night out? Don’t miss out on Prohibition!
The grand timber double doors open up to the main hall of Prohibition, where the large space is designed with shadows and dim lighting in mind. The chandeliers, filament bulbs and raw brick all come together to create a peaceful atmosphere. The copper pipe fittings that run along the walls are a reminder of the bathtub gin connections from which Prohibition takes its inspiration.
You surely won’t be disappointed by our favourite nightclub in Brisbane!
Retro’s Nightclub Fortitude Valley
Retro’s on Brunswick Street Mall in Fortitude Valley is all about bringing back the good times by playing the best hits from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The iconic venue features signature Fish Bowl Cocktails, LED light quotes, disco mirror balls, and a huge illuminated dance floor to give guests a nostalgic nightclub experience in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
How to dress for a night out in Brisbane?
The dress code is fairly straightforward. Guys should wear closed-toe shoes, jeans, and a nice collared shirt. For girls, anything goes as long as it looks presentable and not like you just came from the beach (no thongs allowed).
